Gut Health
Let's face it, it ain't glamorous, but we do need to talk about it. Some people won't stop talking about their bowels, others don't even acknowledge they exist. As healthcare professionals, trust us, we have heard it all before and nothing really embarrasses us, so don't hesitate to come in and discuss your bowels. Honestly, we would love to hear about it, especially if things have changed. This is why we will focus on your guts in this month's newsletter. What should you be putting in and what should be coming out, but more importantly, if you should be worried about what is coming out.
If you are unsure about anything, just come in and see us for a frank chat.

What Should I Be Eating?
Look on the internet and you will see information about the Paleo diet, Keto diet, or intermittent fasting. Dietary fads will come and go and some may work in the short term, however, what is important is sustainability - can I really do this diet for the rest of my life? Even if I can, will I be missing out on some valuable nutrients over the years? For advice created, after reviewing 55 000 scientific journals, click here to read the national guidance on diet.
Do I Have A Gut Problem?
There are many things that can go wrong with your guts, but we will get straight to the point, Colon Cancer. It is Australia's second most common cancer. With all cancers, if we treat it early it can be cured. If you notice a change in your guts, come in and see us. How do I know what to look for? Click here for symptoms and act fast if you have them.
Track Your Diet
Getting some cold hard facts about what you are putting into your body is important. Sometimes the results can be startling, but it can also make clear what changes need to be made. This is where a food tracking app can be useful. Examples would be MyFitnessPal or CSIRO TWD app. We do not endorse any, in particular, so do your own research and find one that works for you. Food tracking can be more effective if supported by seeing a dietician, to give you advice about making a change.
See Our Dietician, {Add your dietician name here}
Medicare enables you to get access to many other healthcare professionals at subsidised rates. The most relevant to your gut health is seeing a dietician. If you so wish, book in and see us, to discuss if you are eligible.
