Child Health
Being a parent is hard, there is no doubt about it. The sleepless nights, the constant worry about how your child is developing, and the fears about their future. We all go through this. It would be nice if there was a book that just explained what needed to be done, but the problem is, all children are different. As your doctors, we will not be telling you how to bring up your children. That is for you to decide, but what we can do is give you some principles and resources to help you along the way.
Generally speaking, we always say to our parents, if you are worried about your kids, please come in and see us. We would rather say, "don't worry everything is ok" than, "we wish you had come earlier". Rest assured you are never wasting our time.

It's An Emergency
Every parent's biggest fear is an emergency situation. We spend most of our time, trying our best to keep kids away from danger. Unfortunately, emergencies do happen, and we must act in the right way, during a crisis. Firstly call 000 then make sure you do what is right, in the time it takes for the ambos to arrive. How do I know what is right? Click here for an app that should always be on your phone.
Are They Ignoring Me Or Can't They Hear?
Getting a child to do anything sometimes, can be difficult. They often will ignore you, but if this happens time and again, you might start to think there is a problem. Is it selective hearing or can't they hear? A simple way to screen their hearing is by using Sound Scouts. This is an at-home hearing test that will help you work out if your kid is just ignoring you. It is free to use for all Aussie school kids. Click here to learn more.
We Can Support You as a Parent
Sometimes it can get too much as a parent. As well as trying to deal with all the responsibilities that adult life brings, dealing with the challenges of children can tip you over the edge. But it is ok to admit this. Every elite footie player or cricketer has a team behind him or her to make sure they perform at their best. Let us be that team, to allow you to perform at your best.
If things are starting to overwhelm you, our Psychologists Dr. Alicia Papas, Neringa Luscombe-Smith, and Suzie Norwood may be able to see you, under a mental health care plan. Book in to see our GPs and we can try and organise this for you.
